What is WGF – Women Global Franchise?
WGF is an international community that brings together women leaders and entrepreneurs in the franchising sector.
Our mission is to promote female empowerment through networking, training, visibility, and mutual support — building bridges between markets and cultures.

WGF is open to:

Do I need to own a franchise brand to join?
No. WGF is open to all entrepreneurial women — even if you’re still planning your business or simply exploring franchising as a future option.

Is there a cost to join WGF?
Currently, there are two membership options:
- FREE Member: Access to basic content on social media, selected open online events, and the newsletter.
- FOUNDING Member (annual fee): Full access to all initiatives, exclusive content, mentorship, and entry to members-only events.
- PREMIUM Member (annual fee): Full access to all initiatives, exclusive content, mentorship, and participation in private events.
Can I promote my brand or project within the community?
Yes! WGF offers dedicated spaces to showcase women-led brands and projects. We want to highlight your achievements and help create new business opportunities.
How can I take part in international events?
You’ll receive regular invitations by email and can register directly through the platform. Some missions or in-person events may require paid registration, but Premium members get priority access and exclusive discounts.
I want to be a mentor or collaborate with WGF. Is that possible?
Absolutely! We’re always looking for inspiring women to contribute as mentors, speakers, or regional ambassadors. Just send us a message through the contact page or fill in the form in the “Join Us” section.
Is WGF an initiative of the Portuguese Franchise Association (APF)?
WGF is an independent, international project. Cristina Matos, Secretary-General of APF, is also the founder of this movement — ensuring a solid foundation, industry experience, and institutional connection to the franchising world.
How can I become a member?

What is the WGF Empower program and how can I participate?
WGF Empower is an annual program that supports one woman entrepreneur in launching her own franchise business. The winner receives financial support, expert mentorship, and international visibility. The prize is funded by a percentage of the revenue generated by WGF community initiatives.
Applications are open to women over 18, from any country, who are WGF members. The winner is announced in June during World Franchise Day Week. Visit the “WGF Empower” section on this page to check the criteria and submit your application.
